Web Designer at LYCOS

Lycos, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Daum Communications Corp. is looking for a contract/temporary web designer with native fluency in Korean to work on a joint Daum - Lycos project. This position will be part of a small group that will work fast to keep the product current and innovative. The project is based at the Lycos offices in Waltham, MA. The expected duration of the position is 3 months plus, with flexible hours the first month, then 40 hours per week for the remainder of the assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Create visual designs that address business, brand and user requirements, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, interface elements
  • Produce visual design specifications and/or prototypes (mock-ups) closely interacting with product manager
  • Successfully follow a user-centered design process
  • Work hand-in-hand with product manager, web developers and engineers to deliver the final product

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MUST have native level fluency in Korean
  • Must demonstrate strong prototyping skills using HTML and/or CSS
  • Solid understanding of user-centered, analytical thinking and conceptual design skills
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must demonstrate outstanding design talent and creativity
  • Solid understanding of graphic design and interaction design principles
  • Must have solid understanding of website design
  • Works well under pressure and able to manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or related field
  • Ability to generate product ideas from user experience stand-point
  • Experience in multiple OS platforms - Mac, PC, etc. - and web browsers mainly IE, Firefox
  • Some level of English fluency desired
