The Eastern Advertising Director position is a pivotal leadership role within CNET Networks Business. This individual will be responsible for directly managing, training, and motivating our eastern sales team. CNET Networks Business (CNB) is comprised of the following industry leading websites: ZDNet, TechRepublic, and the recently launched, BNET. Winner of the prestigious Folio ‘Best Website’ and ‘Best Web Design’ B2B.
Responsibilities:
- The Eastern Advertising Director is expected to understand revenue goals and to develop a plan to meet and exceed them for the Eastern region.
- More specifically, the Eastern Advertising Director will be required to:
- Manage a team of 7-9 outside and inside sellers while creating an environment in which the team can be successful. This includes assessing their current abilities, identifying appropriate training and developing a plan that brings about the desired improvements in the team’s sales skills.
- Work collaboratively with the sales, product and marketing teams within CNB to develop and implement advertising solutions for our clients that win business from our advertisers and/or their agencies.
- Create business opportunities with our clients; demonstrating the ability to think creatively and contribute meaningfully to the development of innovative programs to meet our clients’ rapidly changing needs.
- Work with CNB management to grow the overall media/sponsorship/leads business by expanding business with current clients, and building and diversifying business relationships with new clients within and outside the technology space.
- Deliver accurate and timely revenue forecasts. The individual is expected to develop, maintain, and report accurate and timely revenue forecasts according to the requirements established by senior CNB management.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of internet sales, ideally within in the enterprise technology space and have strong applicable client/agency relationships. They will demonstrate the ability to think creatively, sell strategically, and communicate efficiently and effectively internally and externally. They must have a strong desire to win and be focused on continually developing their personal and professional skills. Additionally, the successful candidate for the position must be both a strong team player and team leader.
Specifically, the ideal candidate for the Eastern Advertising Director position must:
- Have previously sold interactive media.
- Created programs/solutions programs for major advertisers and agencies.
- Have a deep knowledge of who the interactive media clients and agencies are in our market.
- 5 years of media advertising sales experience, with 2 years of interactive
- 2 years of management within a media organization
- Have substantial knowledge of the competitive landscape for interactive and traditional media in the technology and business segments.
- Have a BS/BA degree or equivalent training and experience.
- Have the ability to work in an intense, high pressure, fast-changing environment.
- Have outstanding written and verbal skills.
- Have a strong team-leading, team-building, and team-motivating mentality.
