We are currently seeking an enthusiastic product manager to join our Media Languages group. As the Codec Product Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the lifecycle of our codec core technologies, and its integration with all relevant product lines. This key position focuses on the core of media technologies and influences the resulting applications—from desktop tools to consumer electronics media solutions. The Everyday View
As the Codec Product Manager for DivX, you’ll work with engineering, product management, marketing and sales to develop product requirements and help define and refine our go-to-market strategies. You’ll also be expected to:
- Define the codec product strategy and roadmap
- Deliver product requirement documents (PRDs) with prioritized features and corresponding justification
- Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
- Be an expert with respect to competition in the media technology space
- Develop the core positioning and messaging for the codec product(s)
- Perform product demonstrations for customers
- Propose an overall budget to ensure success
- Provide analytical data and collateral that define the codec product(s)
- Act as a leader within the company
The Kind of Person We're Looking For
You have a demonstrated ability to clearly define product requirements, determine the business case and value propositions for various products. You research and deliver competitive intelligence on other offerings and create effective go-to-market strategies. You’ve been praised for possessing a unique blend of business and technical savvy and big-picture vision. You’re comfortable understanding trends and potential problems within complex markets, and adept at finding innovative solutions for the broader penetration of DivX technology in software and consumer electronics. You also have:
- A strong technical background
- A proven track record of successfully managing, releasing and establishing market traction for new audio/video codecs/formats
- Experience with open or partner shared source programs and community driven technology (consumers or developers)
- 3+ years in a position of increasing responsibility in a software and codec product management environment
- Experience and expertise researching and establishing product requirements
- Knowledge of software and web services with an emphasis on multimedia playback applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and present highly professional and effective presentations for both business and technical audiences
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering is required; an MBA is desired
