Software Engineer at MLB

MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM) is the interactive media and Internet Company of Major League Baseball. MLBAM manages the official league site, MLB.com, and the 30 individual club sites to create the most comprehensive Major League Baseball resource on the Internet. MLBAM is seeking a Software Engineer, Fantasy Games and Stats for an immediate opening.

Requirements
  • Have experience creating highly trafficked, dynamic web sites using Java technologies with an Oracle backend in a fast paced environment
  • Be able to create and tune SQL queries, including an understanding of how to extract and interpret an Oracle explain plan
  • Be willing to take ownership over existing products as well as assist in scoping and design of new products
  • Be willing to interface directly with customers for the purposes of uncovering bugs and constructing desired feature lists
  • Able to effectively communicate requirements in a collaborative development environment and describe processes and issues to other team members, both written and verbally

Desirable:
  • Have experience using Oracle PL/SQL in a production environment
  • Have an understanding of JSP markup
  • Understand the sport of baseball, including the significance of often-used statistical categories and the general rules of the game
  • Familiarity with fantasy games, specifically fantasy baseball, and understand the mindset of people who play them
  • Have experience with AJAX applications or have a strong understanding of how AJAX technology is used
