Casual Game Developer at LYCOS

Gamesville.com, a division of Lycos, is looking for talented, entry-level Casual Game Developers to join our Waltham, MA based development team.

Gamesville develops and publishes online casual games in a variety of genres: bingo, cards, puzzles, and more. These games are played "in browser" and are enjoyed by thousands of people every day. Some of our proprietary titles include Three-Eyed Bingo, Magic 21 Jackpot, Miami Dice, Poker Inferno, and Frantic Fish.

As a Casual Game Developer at Gamesville.com, you'll participate in and lead the development process from start to finish. This role requires a combination of enthusiasm & ability. You should have experience in writing small games or have participated in an open-source project and/or made some mods. You should definitely enjoy playing games--casual, hardcore, or otherwise and be able to discuss the games you like and why. A strong candidate for this position will be someone who keeps on top of the latest industry trends and incorporates them into his/her work.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in game design and development.
  • Create quality code, quickly.
  • Drive projects, from start to finish.
  • Address issues constructively and realistically.
  • Keep team/mgr regularly updated through status reports.
  • Follow and enhance coding standards and best practices.
  • Migrate code as technology and industry trends change.
  • Liaise with customer service to evaluate and address reported game related issues.

Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of C++ and Java.
  • Must be familiar with Unix environments and PostgreSQL / mySQL.
  • Should have strong problem-solving and math skills.
  • Must be a team player and have fantastic communication skills
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • A Working knowledge of Javascript, Flash and/or Actionscript would be advantageous but not absolutely necessary.
