The Associate Web Developer performs hands-on development of website templates within a database-driven publishing system for the CNET Commerce, Downloads and News properties. Working from designs and/or written specifications, the Associate Web Developer is responsible for the production and publishing of HTML features in standards-compliant (X)HTML, CSS and JavaScript presentation code for high-volume, high-traffic user facing websites. This position requires excellent communication skills, along with good organization and collaboration abilities.
Required Technical Qualifications:
- 2 years experience working at a proficient level with the following:
- Web Standards; the DOM; cross-browser & cross-platform HTML and JavaScript and AJAX
- CSS positioning, hierarchy and (X)HTML/CSS architecture
- Writing original JavaScript applications
- Basic UNIX commands
- Any server-side scripting language
- CMS applications
- Relevant professional experience working with an online property
Required Competencies:
- Ability to work as part of a close-knit, cross-functional team with both technical and non-technical team members
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize work queue
- Excellent attention to detail and a high-level of accountability
Extra Credit:
