Associate Software Engineer at CNET Networks

Description:
CNET Networks' Intranet team is looking for a talented and motivated Associate Software Engineer (ASE). The ASE is an entry-level position which works in the department responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of CNET's technical infrastructure. Additionally it is also involved in the creation and enhancement of the in-house applications.

The ASE is expected to follow the standard development practices that reflects a good understanding of both business requirements and technical implications, and can develop good quality code in predictable times.
The candidate should have a B.S. in CS, EE (or equivalent) and should possess the following skills:
  • Good Java programming skills including J2EE and Struts with focus on web applications.
  • Ability to write good quality SQL and PL*SQL.
  • Familiarity with Web programming interfaces and technologies including JSP, Resin, and Apache.
  • Capable of working in a UNIX development environment.
  • Familiarity with software revision control technologies, preferably CVS.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl.
  • Knowledge of MySQL, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and css would be a plus.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Good Problem solving skills.
  • Strong and effective communication skills.
