Web Designer at Six Apart

Terms: Salaried Employee with full benefits

Six Apart, the creators of Movable Type, TypePad, LiveJournal, and Vox weblogging systems/services, is looking for a full-time Web Designer. This key design position will help drive strong brand awareness, user acquisition, and business results on the various Six Apart web properties. The designer must be passionate about implementing excellent user-centered design, information architecture, interactivity, and usability to drive business and user behavior results. You will work with the four product groups and with the corporate marketing team to develop the best marketing solutions for each.

Responsibilities:
  • Design the behavior of an interactive web site so that it meets business, brand, and user requirements.
  • Develop and prototype new systems, interfaces, controls, tools, and digital environments.
  • Design the organization, hierarchy, and navigation of an interactive web site.
  • Design screen flows, wireframes/schematics, and specifications for development of the Information Architecture.
  • Create comps, storyboards, initial graphic concepts, and final deliverables.
  • Create banner ads, flash animations, and landing pages.
  • Provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables.
  • Develop and prototype new features, functions, and interfaces to meet business, brand, and user requirements.
Requirements:
  • Strong design portfolio with 4+ years education, 4+ years design and interactive work experience
  • Expert skill with the latest design tools, platforms, and versions of applicable software programs -- Mac OS, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale for client and team
  • Comprehensive understanding of interactivity and the Web
  • Experience with creative brainstorming, campaign development, creative brief development, and creative execution
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to think and respond quickly maintaining attention to detail
  • Motivation, decisiveness, organizational skills, efficiency, and dedication
