Director, Business Intelligence - Connected Life at Yahoo

Location : Sunnyvale, CA
Description : The Connected Life Business Unit is seeking a seasoned Director to lead its Business Intelligence team. The number one priority will be to define and execute the business intelligence strategy for Yahoo! Mobile, one of the next growth engines for the Company. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) professional with outstanding Web Analytics expertise, and demonstrated success in designing, building and managing web analytics and BI products. The position requires a passionate and highly-motivated individual with strong leadership, team-building, partnering and project management skills. The right candidate will manage and grow a portfolio of BI products and operations reporting systems including data-mart, data-warehouse, real-time Analytics, instrumentation & registry and analytics portal products. As a visible leader in the organization, the person will be responsible for direction and development of the product management and business analytics teams, and ensuring that all product roadmaps and activities are directly tied to Connected Life BU’s strategic and operating priorities.

The position has the following responsibilities:
  • Develop business intelligence strategy and align Product Roadmaps for Connected Life’s data marts, instrumentation, and analytics products.
  • Direct Connected Life Business Unit’s analytics, data-product strategy, operations and related product management organization.
  • Develop, coach and empower a talented and enthusiastic product management & reporting team.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional to implement a BI strategy and a drive data-driven decision making culture.
  • Collaborate with Connected Life’s Leadership Team to drive business needs, requirements, priorities and timelines.
  • Manage the BI product agenda and ensure BI product/service requirements are fully articulated, prioritized and supported by other horizontal product and platform teams.
  • Manage dashboard processes for internal and external business users and drive best practices for the entire organization.
  • Negotiate with internal and external business users on requirements, service level agreements and resources of the metrics delivered.

The position has the following requirements:
  • Outstanding strategic analysis skills & demonstrated ability to take data, draw insights, and make decisions.
  • Technical depth and expertise in web metrics and enabling data management infrastructure.
  • Passionate and highly-motivated professional with strong leadership, team-building, partnering and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microstrategy, Business Objects, Crystal Reports or similar BI tools
  • Proven ability to lead in a global organization where team members are located around the world.
  • Recent product management experience with full-cycle planning, development and implementation of web analytics and BI products for a leading global company
  • This position requires a BA/BS/MS/MBA in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Management, Engineering or related field.
  • 7 – 10 years work experience in delivering data-driven solutions, infrastructure or products
