Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recognizes & interprets customer needs to architect comprehensive solutions & position servers & workstations accordingly
- Works with other engineers to develop & report on benchmarks, custom configurations & applications for clusters, and Web server farms
- Works on network topology benchmarking for GigE and low latency requirements
- Storage benchmarking
- Develops technical responses to RFIs/RFPs
- Conducts product presentations, system architecture and designs system troubleshooting
- Provides technical input back to Corporate Product Management Team for customer requested enhancements;
- Operates and supports customers for quality and technical issues;
- Provides assistance for field based support and professional services requirements
- Follows & contributes to pertinent cluster & other targeted vertical mailing lists to increase Penguin's profile among the technical community while uncovering potential business
- Provides technical assistance in the development of formal procedures & documentation for statements of work & project management
- Participates in trade shows & product demonstrations
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science.
- Applicants must be highly knowledgeable of the following programs: Python and UNIX shell scripting, Linux system (RedHat, Debian, Gentoo, SUSE) configuration
- High-level knowledge in Networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, Iptables, Ipfw)
- Applicants must be able to write, modify and document C, C++, Java, Perl, XHTML, CSS, CGI applications.
- Candidates must be able to troubleshoot as well as compile the Linux kernel and kernel modules.
- Must have at least one year of experience in customer account management.
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
- This is a full-time position, M-F, 9-5:30pm. Some travel required to customer's location for onsite services.
