System Administrator 3-IT at Oracle

Location: Cambridge, MA, US

Brief Description

Install, maintain and troubleshoot servers, storage and file system configurations and operating systems. Perform performance trend analysis and manage the server/network capacity. Propose client configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system. Work with others to define, coordinate vendor purchase requirements. Responsible for support documentation as well.

Detailed Description

  • Propose client configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system.

Job Requirements
  • Job duties are varied and complex requiring independent judgment.
  • May have project lead role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment.
  • BS in Computer Science or related field.
Additional Details:

Perform Server Administration activities such as OS installations, migrations and upgrades, configuring storage and file systems, maintaining system security, user access administration, providing support for OS/Network related problems, monitoring availability, reliability, capacity and performance and adminstering backup and recovery, systems automation, documentation and disaster recovery.

Skills Required:
  • Strong technical system administration expertise in :
  • AIX 5.2, 5.3
  • HP-UX 11.11, 11.23 Integrity
  • Redhat Linux (recent experience), SUSE Linux
  • Solaris 9,10 (8 a plus)
  • UNIX Shell Scripting Skills
  • Strong skills in configuration, administering and testing server & data backup & recovery
  • Managing NIS lookup services
Experience with :
  • Load Balancing
  • EMC Storage Administration and Provisioning
  • NFS
  • Oracle 9i RAC / 10G Grid
  • Source Control Management software
  • VMWare experience
  • Knowledge of App Servers (OAS, Weblogic)
  • The candidates will be expected to use current internal tools (TR Tool) and third party tools for maintenance and creation of environments.
