Software Engineer, Partners Reporting at YouTube

Founded in February 2005, YouTube is a consumer media company for people to watch and share original videos worldwide through a Web experience. YouTube originally started as a personal video sharing service, and has grown into an entertainment destination with people watching more than 70 million videos on the site daily.

The Partners Reporting team builds infrastructure and tools dedicated to providing our partners detailed data about the usage and trends of their videos on the YouTube website. The successful candidate will design and implement complete solutions from the bottom-up. The candidate's strong design and development skills will ensure the feature meet scalability and availability requirements in order to sustain the exponential growth our platform is exposed to. The candidate should thrive in a fast paced, collaborative and fun environment and should have a strong sense of ownership. The successful candidate is expected to own and drive a project during its whole life cycle: from product definition, to design and development, deployment to live, maintenance and enhancement. Projects created and implemented should meet extremely high standard in regards to scalability.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Proficient in at least one object oriented language (Python, C++, Java).
  • 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Familiar with SQL.
  • Experience in reporting would be a strong plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to create strong working relationship with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Product, Engineering).
  • Teamwork oriented.
  • Detail and quality oriented.
  • Working experience building large scale web applications would be a plus.
  • Experience in web development would be a plus: HTML, AJAX, JavaScript.
  • Scripting skills (shell, Perl, etc.) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating system preferred.
