Strategic Partner Development Manager at YouTube

This position is based in New York, NY or San Bruno, CA.

YouTube, a Google company, is looking for a dynamic individual who can bring excellent partnering and business development experience, as well as experience in the digital media industry, to assist us negotiating significant and complex relationships in the area of online video. The successful candidate for this position will have a very strong understanding and interest in both the media and Internet industries, will be seeking to join a growing group within the organization, and will have the ability to work independently and be an ambassador for the company in discussions with key accounts and prospects.

Founded in February 2005, YouTube is the leader in online video, and the premier destination to watch and share original videos worldwide through a Web experience. YouTube allows people to easily upload and share video clips on www.youtube.com and across the Internet through websites, mobile devices, blogs and email. YouTube has quickly become the leading destination on the Internet for video entertainment.

Responsibilities:
  • This highly-visible role requires someone who will be responsible for identifying, structuring, negotiating, and closing content licensing or other relationships with some of YouTube’s largest and most strategic partners.
  • This individual will need to establish and drive senior level relationships with a range of companies holding content.
  • The ideal candidate must be extremely partner-focused, proactive, have a strong media background (preferably in active content licensing/acquisition, such as in a cable company, film studio, or other media company (online or offline), be technically savvy, work effectively within a team environment, and be comfortable presenting to YouTube, Google, and partner C-level management.

Requirements:
  • JD/MBA and 7-8 years of media or Internet business development experience preferred OR BS/BA and 10+ years of related media or Internet business development experience.
  • Experienced in negotiating complex Internet deals and strategic partnerships, and able to work closely with attorneys to close contracts.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, sales, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Broad experience in initiating and driving senior level relationships.
  • Strong licensing/rights acquisition background.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling.
  • Strong understanding of the Internet media space, search engines, and online advertising players and business models.
  • Strong applications experience (MS Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving, team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills regarding contractual, technical, and financial issues with accounts.
  • Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management within YouTube and Google.
