Infrastructure Tools Developer at hi5

Position: Software Engineer – Infrastructure Tools Developer
Location: San Francisco, CA
Responsibilities:
  • Develop applications and scripts for the Infrastructure Team to meet Performance and Uptime goals
  • Create web-based tools to monitor performance, availability, configuration, and provisioning options of major backend systems: DB systems, Caching systems, application servers, etc
  • Develop and maintain custom rrdtool schemas and applications
  • Develop and maintain relational Data Models for the configuration and operation of the tools and applications
  • Document design and usage of tools

Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred
  • 3+ years of solid application development experience in either Ruby, Perl, Python, or Java
  • 1+ years of HTML coding experience
  • 2+ years of database-driven website development
  • At least 2 years of Operations/Infrastructure experience within technology field
  • Strong preference for candidates with prior technology operations experience for a high-traffic top-25 consumer Internet service
  • Experience using operations monitoring tools such as Nagios, Hobbit, Cricket, Zenoss, etc
  • Scripting languages (perl, php, shell, ruby)
  • Familiarity with key network components and databases
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
