Quality Assurance Engineer at skype

Skype software is much more then just chatting or calling nowadays! In addition to some servers that are needed to support login and authentication we have many additional services running in data centers. Backend testers are testing these core services and additional service support infrastructure. A regular change to existing services and new products testing keeps our backend testers busy. In addition also database testing. If you are fluent with linux server based environment and databases around you then there should not be a problem to learn testing specific stuff and become Skype backend tester.

Responsibilities
  • automate and execute regression, functionality, benchmark, stress and load testing on different backend servers
  • bugtracking, allocating defects to developers, follow up on fixed and not fixed issues

  • Develop creative, competent analyses to identify root causes of technical problems & develop resolutions
  • Perform manual and automated functional tests as well as large-scale system tests create, enhance and maintain automated build and unit/regression test infrastructures
  • Write Perl modules for functional testing; utilize C/C++, Unix shell scripting; utilize knowledge of HTTP, TCP/IP and DNS protocols to perform manual and automated test in a large-scale Internet test network
  • Review bug descriptions, functional requirements, design documents and code, working closely with developers to design test criteria and develop test plans
  • Ensure proper documentation of work; responsible for mentoring and training other team members.
Qualifications:
  • M.Sc. in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related equivalent degree.
  • No experience required.
