Systems Engineer ,VA at Facebook

Facebook is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer to join the Operations team. The position is full-time and will be based in our facility in northern Virginia and will report to the Director of Operations.

Location: Northern Virginia, VA

Responsibilities:

• Continually improve the performance and scalability of the site
• Configure and support Linux, mySQL and Apache servers
• Monitor site stability and performance
• Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network
• Prioritize tasks and work independently yet interact well within a project-oriented team environment
• Solve problems quickly and automate processes
• Document current and future configuration processes and policies
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support

Requirements:

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of experience with Linux
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, security, LAMP, HTTP, LDAP and MTAs
• Scripting and programming skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
