Operations Engineer at Facebook

Facebook is seeking an Operations Engineer to join the Operations team. The position is full-time and is based in our main office in downtown Palo Alto and will report to the Director of Operations.

Location: Palo Alto, CA

Responsibilities:

• Monitor site stability and performance
• Troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, applications and network
• Resolve technical issues related to LAMP technologies
• Identify and triage all outage related events
• Facilitate communication, coordinate escalation, work with subject matter experts and implement a fix
• Automate and streamline processes
• Track issues and run reports

Requirements:

• Certification such as CCNA, RHCT or equivalent experience
• Prior experience working in a high-traffic, internet operations environment preferred
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, Linux and LAMP
• Experience working with network management systems and network monitoring tools, such as Nagios
• Scripting experience with Perl, bash or shell scripting a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A sense of urgency in dealing with and resolving critical issues that relate to the performance of the site and/or iweb infrastructure
• Off-hours coverage and willingness to be on call
