Software Engineer - LAMP

The CNET Networks Entertainment division -- including GameSpot.com, MP3.com, and TV.com -- is looking for a software engineer to be an integral part of our development team.

What will you be doing? Just about anything - we are constantly pushing new features, reviews, tournaments, and contests, all while dealing with tons of user submitted information and frenzied forum activity. So you get to be involved with a variety of dynamic projects that will all see large amounts of traffic. If you want the opportunity to push your skills to the next level, this is the place.

As for you, Linux, PHP, and MySQL are an absolute must, and a deep understanding of all web technologies from a technical and product perspective is also very important. You should have a passion for providing a great user experience rather than just looking for technical challenges.

As a company we are very focused on getting the user what they want as fast as possible. A passion for Games, Music, TV, Movies and all things in the entertainment world is a must!

Why should you choose CNET? Well, aside from the fun of working with huge entertainment properties, CNET has excellent benefits, a very generous vacation plan, a great location in downtown San Francisco, and highly competitive salaries. It's a rewarding and comfortable place to work.

Specific Qualifications:
  • Solid PHP and mySQL skills
  • If you know Smarty, that's a big plus
  • You've had at least 2 years experience writing PHP professionally
  • You understand that the main goal is an awesome user experience
  • You're able to independently design and build web-based tools
  • You have an interest in developing web technologies, and a desire to use them to do cool things.
