Senior Solutions Engineer at Akamai Technologies

Location: US-CA-San Mateo

Responsibilities:

Our Solutions Engineers possess the highest levels of both business and technical acumen - understanding customer business drivers; match those to Akamai's technology, and clearly articulating complex solutions to prospective customers.
  • You will use your Internet expertise to drive revenues by managing the technical pre-sales process and to evangelize Akamai's technology to prospective customers, and to drive new product and service offerings.
  • You will work closely with direct sales to educate prospective customers about the superiority of Akamai's services - this includes conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations, technical objection handling, proposals, and follow up on all customer related issues.
  • You will work closely with R&D and Product Management to develop future product direction and strategy - providing valuable input from "the field".
  • You will oversee the customer proposal process and ensure that all technical information and recommendations address customer requirements.
  • You will support and educate Sales, Marketing and other internal departments to ensure that customers get appropriate updates, upgrades and event-oriented solutions.
  • Lastly, you are expected to show high standards of leadership - actively developing and mentoring junior staff within the Solutions Engineering and Sales organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
  • Detailed knowledge of Internet technologies, thorough understanding of eCommerce, On-line Marketing, Web Analytics and Security
  • Technical programming background - J2EE, .NET, Web Services experience a plus
  • 8+ years experience in a “customer facing” environment such as sales or technical consulting
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills appropriate to both technical and management clients
  • Must have experience developing and enhancing strong client relationships
  • A proven track record demonstrating good business judgment, an ability to make decisions, and a passion for excellence
  • Must be willing to travel to approximately 20%
