DivX is currently seeking a Sr. Product Manager, Software Business to be responsible for planning and driving the execution of DivX software tools licensing and distribution monetization for products including the DivX Player, DivX Converter, DivX Author and future software products. The Everyday View
At the strategy level, the Sr. Product Manager, Software Business for DivX owns the business planning process and deliverables for DivX software and drives the alignment of internal and external resources according to plan. Specific day-to-day activities will include:

  • Defining, refining and championing software products and business model concepts
  • Crafting effective business plans from concept, to financials and resource planning in concert with product development, segment marketing, finance and senior executives
  • Ensuring the funding and alignment of engineering, marketing and business development resources to execute on the business plan
  • Continuously incorporating business feedback and results to track progress toward and eventually reach the business objectives (revenues and other milestones)
  • Evaluating marketing and advertising needs and opportunities
  • Communicating business strategy, both internally and externally, in support of marketing, advertising and press outreach activities


At the execution level, the Sr. Product Manager, Software Business for DivX makes business and product release decisions for software products. The person who accepts this position will be instrumental in organizing and driving the day-to-day business related to software, measuring progress and attaining agreed upon business objectives. Additional specific activities will include:

  • Driving product, business development and sales priorities, including marketing requirements, product launch plans and release readiness, customer identification and engagement and negotiation assistance for large software deals
  • Making specific product pricing, requirements, timing and priority decisions to achieve overall business objectives
  • Coordinating across product management, marketing, sales and business development
  • Leading business team meetings, metrics reviews and communication to senior management
  • Communicating progress and milestone objectives, achievements and adjustments


The Kind of Person We’re Looking for
We’re looking for someone with robust business management skills and experience to help us grow our software business. The person who fills this position will have to be strategic and ambitious, but also pragmatic and realistic. Ideally, the person who fills this position will have the following skills and experience:
  • 10-15 years of experience in product management and/or strategic marketing in consumer software, managing broad-usage end-user applications available through the web, original equipment manufacturing (OEM) or retail channels
  • Solid knowledge of digital media technologies and internet advertising markets
  • Ability to take direct responsibility for product line directions and roadmaps as well as related planning of marketing, sales and engineering resources
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid and fun start-up environment
  • A high degree of enthusiasm and self-motivation with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • A computer science or engineering background
  • An MBA is preferred
