How Big Can You Think?
A suitable candidate for this position will be able to understand our search platform from end-to-end. You will need to work effectively in a cross functional environment (App Engineering, Datacenter Planning, Site and Network Operations). You will be a self starter and be able to solve a wide variety of complex problems in innovative and practical ways. You will be responsible for the definition, design, development and successful timely completion of major features of our product.
As the Capacity Analyst your responsibility is to develop capacity forecasts for Yahoo data centers by developing forecasting. You will develop and Implement new processes/procedures and best practices among the various business units to drive towards an integrated infrastructure plan which can be executed and delivered against. This position will require travel.
Responsibilities
• Raise any potential issues (i.e. non-standard hardware and SAN configuration, architectural, data center dependencies, support model or any issue in general) that could affect distributed support
• Review and actively participate in system architecture reviews and capacity planning exercise as a part of the project life cycle
• Ensure that the CAPEX and OPEX are commensurate with business requirements
• Develop forecasting models using input from application business owners.
• Develop requirements for automation of data collection, and development of executive reports.
Qualifications
• MS degree in math, computer science or engineering field, or equivalent experience and/or minimum of 5 years of relevant responsibility.
• Working experience with networking, storage, or server infrastructure essential.
• Proactive, independent problem-solving, optimization and analysis skills required
• Solid experience with Microsoft Excel, Project, and other Microsoft applications required.
• Individual should possess strong analytical skills, be flexible and team-oriented
• Have good interpersonal, communication, and follow up skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Experience with database modeling and reports generation.
• Ability to work in a team environment required.
• Good oral and written communications skills required.
Required Technical Skills
• Experience in Server Capacity Planning and Architecture
• Knowledge of enterprise server products
• Good understanding of server virtualization
• Experience in Network and Storage Capacity Planning and Architecture
• Experience in collecting, evaluating performance data and vendor recommendations
• Experience in Capacity and Performance management/monitoring tools
• Familiarity with other add-on hardware products
• Familiarity with 3-tier application architecture
