Open Source Web Developer at Forumone.com

Forum One Communications is seeking open source Web Developers to join our team in the Alexandria Office.

Description:
Do good with your LAMP skills! Forum One develops innovative web solutions for organizations that address social issues of importance and we need your help.

Our web developers work with modern internet tools and technologies in a dynamic team-based environment to produce web solutions they are proud of. Day-to-day you will contribute to our client solutions by coding, collaborating with your project team, and being challenged to solve problems and produce innovative web properties.

We actively seek out employees who will have a vested interest in the missions of our clients, as well as a passion for web technology. We encourage candidates who are interested in working with open source software and in areas of international development, health policy, and environmental policy within the non profit sectors to apply.

Necessary Skills:

  • At least 2 years of experience developing web sites and web applications.
  • Experience working with AJAX, and MVC-based application development frameworks like CAKE and CodeIgniter
  • Experience working with Open Source Content Management Systems like Drupal, Typo3, Joomla, or others.
  • Strong working knowledge of PHP, and experience developing on LAMP architecture.
  • Proficiency in other server-side programming tools (Cold Fusion, ASP.Net, Java/JSP, XML, XSLT, or Perl) is a definite plus.
  • Strong understanding of, and interest in, the use of internet technologies as a strategic tool for organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work as a team member and work effectively with all levels of staff.


  • Education: Bachelors Degree with solid academic record. Second language skills a plus.
