Main Responsibilities:

In this position, the Software Engineer will work under minimal supervision as part of the IONA Security Team. He/She will be involved in the design, implementation and testing of security features of IONA's Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure, including transport-layer security, message protection, and authentication and authorization through IONA's security framework.

Additional responsibilities will include re-factoring, problem analysis, bug fixing , product release and testing conformance with industry specifications, including CORBA and Web Services specifications.

Experience, skills and qualification needed:

This is a role requiring substantial initiative and a degree in a computer-related discipline or equivalent computer-related technical experience is required.

Personal Attributes / Skills:

• Degree in Computer Science or in a related discipline
• Minimum of 2 years experience with Java or C++ development (some experience of both preferred, and some Java experience is required).
• Experience on both UNIX and Windows platforms
• Familiarity with general Security Concepts, SSL, Web Services Security.
• Experience with XML related technologies.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting multi-threaded and networked applications.
• Experience with source code control systems
• Knowledge of build systems and scripting languages (Ant, Perl, Make)
• A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Flexible, quick learner and self motivated
• Organized and methodical approach to work, with good attention to detail and ability to document designs.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
