Facebook is seeking a PHP Performance Engineer to join the Product Engineering team. The position is a full-time position based in our main office in downtown Palo Alto.
Responsibilities:
- Identify performance bottlenecks in PHP applications
- Provide code optimization recommendations
- Prototype and implement optimization techniques
- Benchmark existing code and enhancements
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Code primarily in PHP
- Interface with other team members to incorporate their innovations and vice versa
- Identify and communicate best practices
Requirements:
- A passion for performance debugging and benchmarking
- Knowledge of PHP and system profiling tools
- Adept knowledge of the PHP API
- Experience building PHP applications and frameworks
- Basic knowledge of PHP internals and Apache architecture
- Experience working with Apache/PHP in high-performance environments
- Interest in working on the second largest PHP website in the world
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred
