Senior Systems Administrator (Technical Lead) at ARCHIVE

The Internet Archive is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian) experience and large distributed systems to support our data center of 1500 computers. The Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library committed to preserving the world's digital cultural artifacts. Used by over 6 million people, this resource is becoming part of how the Internet works. Primary Responsibilities:

• Define and analyze systems, networks and applications and translate requirements into functional specifications and effective processes.
• Work with development to ensure reliable code pushes.
• Work with Site Operations Manager of the data center and provide consultation and strategic direction in systems and hosting technology.
• Define and deliver optimal system architecture designs for management review.
• Develop tools and scripts to assist with routine maintenance tasks.
• Mentor data center technician team in the usage of tools and scripts and work with them to develop and deliver optimal solutions for service recovery and business resumption.
• Provide recommendations for scalability and performance improvement in selected areas of discipline.
• Must be able to provide on call support.

Skills Needed:

• 5 years of Linux experience.
• Experience with more than one of the following helpful: DHCP, DNS, Linux virtual Service (LVS), Keepalived, MySQL, PostgreSQL, PHP.
• Team lead experience a plus.
• Linux networking and troubleshooting skills required.
• Experience working in a fast paced environment helpful.
