Senior ETL Developer at Stamford Consultants AG

Location: Geneva

Description:
Stamford Consultants AG is a dynamic company specifically created to offer a fresh approach to recruitment. With over 20 years experience in recruiting personnel, we specialise in sourcing high quality technical and business professionals to fulfill demanding and critical business roles.We are currently looking for a Senior ETL Developer to join a team of developers working on a global project for out customer, an international bank based in Geneva.

Role & responsibilities:
  • Analyzing source systems and creating mappings to the target database schema
  • Optimizing ETL performance
  • Identifying and managing data quality issues
  • Prepare key project documents and technical specifications
  • Provide mentoring to other developers
  • Working with project teams to plan, design, develop, test, and implement solutions and/or enhancements to existing systems to meet current and future needs
  • Collaborate with other teams involved in the ETL projects, such as Business Systems Analysts, architects, DBAs and testers.
Requirements:
  • In depth experience with data analysis, modeling and design specific to a data warehouse / Business Intelligence environment
  • Experience with the design of large scale ETL solutions integrating multiple source systems
  • Good understanding of overall data warehouse design principles and best practices
  • Experience as ETL developer using ETL tools such as Informatica / PowerCenter
  • Proven experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or Sybase/TransactSQL
  • Ability to communicate design solutions to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Must be able to work independently and provide coaching and direction to junior staff
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills required
  • Ability to communicate with people in different sites in written and oral English
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully on project teams
Nice to have:
  • DBA expertise
  • Experience with ESB architecture and technology platforms (e.g. Tibco)
  • Understanding of SOA and Information Architecture concepts
  • Leadership and project management
  • Expertise in the field of financial / banking systems
  • Good UNIX fundamental skills and experience
  • Experience with one or more "best of breed" BI tools, e.g. Cognos, Hyperion
Languages:
English, French is a plus

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with DBA to implement web based reporting front-end.
  • Drive implementation of infrastructure services to support logging, ETL and reporting.
  • Work with business analysts to devise reports which will drive a variety of business decisions.
  • Work with engineering team on event logging functionality and infrastructure to support reporting needs.
  • Work with product development team on data driven features.
  • Lead and drive improvements to our data systems.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience developing code to interface with high volume MySQL or Oracle databases
  • Professional experience developing web applications with ASP.NET, JSP/Java, Python or Perl.
  • Creative problem solver with excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, robust, maintainable code on a tight schedule
  • SQL language proficiency
  • Understanding of SQL query plans and ability to optimize SQL queries
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent documentation skills

Senior Access T-SQL Developer at DataFin Recruitment

Environment:

A Cape Town based company requires a Senior Access T-SQL Developer with 4 years MS Access, Visual Basic/VBA and T-SQL with SQL Server 2000 or equivalent (creating Stored Procedures, Views, Functions and Tables)

Duties:
  • MS Access with VBA and T-SQL Software Developer for internal systems, delivering quality functionality to support the various business functions
  • Deliver quality code that works first time, tested & bug free, and delivered within determined timeframes
  • Adhering to development standards with emphasis on documentation of code, either inline or separate document
  • Regular communication with Business Users and assist the Project Managers to provide accurate estimates (quotes)
  • Assist with MS Access, VBA and VB code and peer reviews
  • Assistance with hiring and training of new Access/TSQL staff
  • Review all T-SQL code before deployment
Requirements:
  • A tertiary education will be beneficial, specifically a degree or diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems
