Senior Access T-SQL Developer at DataFin Recruitment

Location: South Africa

Environment:

A Cape Town based company requires a Senior Access T-SQL Developer with 4 years MS Access, Visual Basic/VBA and T-SQL with SQL Server 2000 or equivalent (creating Stored Procedures, Views, Functions and Tables)

Duties:
  • MS Access with VBA and T-SQL Software Developer for internal systems, delivering quality functionality to support the various business functions
  • Deliver quality code that works first time, tested & bug free, and delivered within determined timeframes
  • Adhering to development standards with emphasis on documentation of code, either inline or separate document
  • Regular communication with Business Users and assist the Project Managers to provide accurate estimates (quotes)
  • Assist with MS Access, VBA and VB code and peer reviews
  • Assistance with hiring and training of new Access/TSQL staff
  • Review all T-SQL code before deployment
Requirements:
  • A tertiary education will be beneficial, specifically a degree or diploma in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 4 years MS Access 2000 or more
  • 4 years Visual Basic/VBA
  • 4 years T-SQL with SQL Server 2000 or equivalent (creating Stored Procedures, Views, Functions and Tables)
  • Full project lifecycle
  • T-SQL with MS SQL 2005 would be beneficial
  • Financial systems experience would be beneficial
  • .NET skills would be beneficial
  • DBA skills would be beneficial

How Big Can You Think?

As a member of Yahoo!'s Product Intelligence Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing research and comprehensive data analysis to a number of parties within our business unit, with a particular focus on the marketing team. You will play a critical role in driving marketing, business, product, and engineering strategies by providing insights obtained through analysis of online results from various Yahoo data sources, and from test results generated from a sample of Yahoo's users. Your responsibilities will include identifying key metrics, validating the effectiveness of metrics, working with third parties to gather competitive insights, managing the testing process, analyzing results, and writing regular reports to summarize analyses and make objective recommendations.

Basic Qualifications
The candidate needs to demonstrate the ability to execute successfully in all aspects of engagements with different members of our business unit, including analysis methodology development, analysis execution, strategic recommendations development, and clear verbal & written presentation of findings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

The candidate needs to have strong strategic problem solving skills, with the ability to help our product/marketing/engineering/business groups to understand and prioritize opportunities.

Technical skills such as SPSS, SQL, UNIX shell, Perl, Regular Expressions, Microsoft Access, Excel VBA Macros, Microstrategy, and HTML are a strong plus.


Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in CS/EE with a minimum of 2 years experience as a data analyst, or a bachelors degrees in CS/EE with a Masters degree in Operations Research and System Modeling (e.g. Management Science & Engineering, or Business Management with emphasis on analytics), Applied Mathematics or Physics. Analysis skills including statistical analysis, quantitative analysis and stats testing are required.
