How Big Can You Think?

Position Title: Response Center Technician - Tier I
Department: Operations
Reports To: NOC Manager

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities will be monitoring both systems and network performance through the use of various network management tools and ticketing systems. The NOC Engineer will also be responsible for interfacing with internal/external customers on operational issues by dispatching oncall engineers, facilitating communication and driving resolution to events via standard operating procedures. Additional responsibilities will require running reports, tracking escalations and other key performance indicators. Team playing will play a major role in working effectively with peers to create a positive environment within the team. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to multitask in order to facilitate the resolution of multiple incidents at any given time with the vision to automate in order to better scale and streamline process.

Desired Skills/Experience
 Knowledge of the UNIX operating environment with the ability to navigate, manipulate and understand the file structure.
 Knowledge of basic Unix diagnostic tools and commands
 Understanding TCP/IP network environment
 Experience writing shell scripts, HTML and other scripting languages
 Prior experience working in a NOC environment
 Experience working with network management systems and other industry standard NOC tools (i.e. Netcool, Nagios, HPOV, Patrol...)
 Ability to effectively communicate via phone and in writing
 Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask in order to handle multiple tasks in a real-time environment
 Effective touch typing for processing critical real time events
 Certification such as CCNA, RHCT or equivalent
 An AA Degree or equivalent
