Data Center Ops at Yahoo

How Big Can You Think?
Assist various operations & development teams installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining all devices and services to support the successful day-to-day operations of our Data Centers. In addition, will also be responsible for collocation infrastructure devices like console servers, power-cyclers, LAN switches, etc., as well as assist with back-up/restores of pertinent data. Will have strong emphasis on keeping the data center secure, clean and organized. Will provide significant support on big install projects and Property relocations.
Also maintains Operations database and ensures all devices are accurately reflected. Required to be ''on-call'' occasionally and this will be for the graveyard shifts. The work week includes a weekend day and is 4 days of 10 hour shifts.


SiteOPS Level 2 (pay grade level 5) Requirements:
  • At least two (2) years previous experience working in Data Center(s) or computer room environment
  • At least two (2) years experience troubleshooting various PC & SUN server hardware
  • Working knowledge of UNIX (free BSD a plus)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to multi-task in a very dynamic environment
  • Able to work flexible hours
