How Big Can You Think?

The successful candidate will contribute to Yahoo's results quality measurement and anti-spam efforts by:

  • Participating in relevance tests designed to measure data quality across Yahoo's web search product line.
  • Building training sets to support the development of automated classifiers.
  • Analyzing search user session data to identify relationships between queries, classify query transitions, and draw inferences about user satisfaction from click behaviors and query reformulation chains.
  • Contributing to the development of web spam detection methods.
  • Performing other web search data QA tasks as assigned.
Experience classifying data into taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, or some other formal classification scheme is strongly desired. Basic knowledge of the structure and functionality of web search and directory services is required, as is an understanding of web search strategies and techniques. Familiarity with HTML, XML, or other SGML markup languages is strongly preferred. Fluency in at least one language other than English is preferred. Some knowledge of at least one scripting language is desirable, as is familiarity with mySQL databases.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Linguistics, or related field. Advanced degree desirable.
  • Sufficient knowledge of Unix and/or Linux to be able to invoke various spam detection scripts from a command line.
  • Experience classifying large volumes of data into complex classification schemes.
  • Ability to assess the authoritativeness, topical pertinence, and overall quality of web pages.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

As the Vice President of Business Development within the Global Partner Solutions (GPS) group, you will focus on the overall goal of establishing new strategic partners, including evaluation, strategy development and execution planning. In addition, expanding the depth and value of existing partnerships. To deliver these services, you will interact externally with executive level management to initiate, structure, negotiate, and manage long term partnerships deemed to be strategically important to Yahoo!. You will negotiate terms to govern and you must possess a high degree of comfort interfacing with all levels within a company, and do so with a proven track record.

You will be responsible for closing significant relationships, forging the partnerships network growth, creating new partnerships, all focused on creating future strategic value. Ultimately, driving revenue to Yahoo. Our ideal candidate will have extensive business development and sales experience, as well as operational experience. Strong management background with a proven track record at hiring, motivating and leading senior level employees, is required.

A background in the internet and media space is required, along with a solid understanding of selling next generation solutions and bundled services and products. A deep understanding of Yahoo's Services needs and demands, and the ability to function at rapid pace are required.

•High degree of comfort overseeing major projects, leading teams, and working with senior executives are also necessary.
