The position of Network Engineer requires an individual with a solid understanding of basic data communications concepts. Position responsibilities include daily operations, deployments, troubleshooting, service request fulfillment, and projects. Interaction with other teams within the company for a variety of company initiatives will be required. This position will work closely with the team on the future direction of the network design and implementation.

The Candidate will have strong communication skills with attention to detail; will work with a sense of urgency and take action quickly in response to ever-changing conditions in a high pressure, highly accountable environment; will be a creative problem solver.

Job Duties:
  • Complete tasks based on Workflow and Incident Tickets.
  • Assist with the creation of documentation for daily Network Operations tasks.
  • Respond to Alerts in order to maintain the highest available uptime of the network.
  • Perform level one and level two troubleshooting for network outages.
  • Escalate to Network Engineering based on established procedures.
  • BIND DNS updates as requested.
  • Configure Cisco switches, routers, Firewalls, and Content switches per request.
  • Open TAC cases as necessary.
  • Perform work according to established policies and procedures.
  • Shift work in a 24x7 environment required.
Skills/Requirements
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including IPv4, L2/L3 forwarding, firewalls, Quality of Service, L4-7 switching, VRF, Load Balancing
  • Experience in operating and troubleshooting data networks
  • Solid documentation abilities
  • Experience with network tools and functions such as tcpdump, ethereal, ntop, netflow accounting, iptables, ACLs, policy routing
  • Solid background in TCP/IP, BGP, DNS/Bind, OSPF, and other routing protocols.
  • Expert understanding of all Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco CSS/CSM Content Switches, Cisco PIX/FWSM Firewalls, Routers, and VPN
  • Cisco CCNA certification preferred
  • Strong experience with ISC BIND DNS versions 8.x and 9.x

Responsibilities
  • Help run a mission critical web application on Linux and IBM servers
  • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network problems using a combination of HP and Cisco networking equipment
  • Administration of LAMP stack infrastructure (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
  • Oversee a growing office network of 40 desktops in email, software and networking issues
  • Oversee a VOIP phone system using Nortel equipment
  • Program shell scripts and small web applications to automate maintenance and improve procedures
  • Research and configure new software to support developers, system administrators and office workers
  • Oversee maintenance / run of nightly backups using IBM TSM software
  • 7/24 availability for emergency support

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years experience working in the field
  • Skills in troubleshooting system performance and system outages
  • Expertise in Red Hat Linux is essential
  • Expertise in administering IBM DB2 a bonus.
  • Expertise in setting up PHP development environments, such as Zend, would be valuable
  • Expertise in IBM x-series, IBM Total Storage, Cisco Routers & Firewalls, HP routers, and other Tier 1 hardware would be an asset
  • Expertise in OpenBSD, NFS, IBM's GPFS and Tivoli Storage Manager would be an asset

- Architect, design and develop key C++ features and components for client software running on mobile phones including Windows Mobile devices. Requires extensive work on networking, data model, native phone integration, and UI-facing systems is involved.

- Contribute to system-level architectural discussions, review and provide feedback of requirements, design and test documents.

- Work closely with team members to integrate solutions.

- Work closely with server and QA engineers to isolate and debug system problems.

- 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in C++ based commercial product development.

Candidate must have experience implementing RTP/RTCP protocols, in particular RTP mixing/conferencing.
C/C++ on Linux: The ideal candidates will have exposure with land-mobile radio technologies, specially in the p25 or Tetra space. Experience in PoC (push-to-talk over cellular) will be desirable.
Understanding of basic networking technologies, including Multicast is a plus.

Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience.

Requirements:

Superb C/C++ coding skills working in a Linux environment

Strong Linux experience to include Linux 2.4 and 2.6

In-depth understanding of video transport to include knowledge of RTP/RTCP

Effective written and verbal communication and cross-team collaboration skills


Preferred:
